My 2014 New Year's Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions
Well, it's official- 2014 is finally here! With the new year comes new dreams, new goals and a couple several New Year's Resolutions. I will be first to admit that I never really make New Year's Resolutions simply because I  usually failed at those I did make.

This year however,  is going to be different! I have already set my 2014 blogging goals and plan to succeed this year. And my New Year's Resolutions don't consist of just blogging, but many other things in my personal life.

Hopefully, putting them here, for the whole World Wide Web to see will help me remember them and strive to succeed in achieving them!

Well, without further ado, here are my 5 New Year's Resolutions for 2014!

New Year's Resolutions #1:

One of my biggest and most exciting New Year's Resolutions is to lose 45 pounds this year! Yeah, I know- that has to be one of the most common, yet most failed, New Year's Resolutions in history. However, out of the hundreds of thousands of people that make this resolution each year, several actually do succeed. And, I plan on being one of those people!

I am starting this year at a 194 lbs at 5' 4" and wearing a size 14/16. I hope to lose 25 lbs by April 1st, 2014, then continue the next 20 over the next few months. I work full time and I'm gone over 12 hours a day, four days a week. By the time I get home at night I barely have enough time for cooking, cleaning, doing the wife and mommy duties, then if I'm lucky- get a chance to work on my blog.

While I don't have time to exercise each day, I do have a few other lifestyle changes that will help me reach my goal of losing 45 pounds! :)

New Year's Resolutions #2:

Another thing I want to do in 2014 is get more organized. eek! Ah, I always have good intentions of organizing this room, that closet, those drawers... I plan on getting my entire house organized, hopefully before spring. With two large living rooms, five bedrooms and five walk-in closets clutter builds up fast. (Three of those rooms are spare-bedroom and end up being catch-all rooms.) I have so much stuff that I need to get rid of, should get rid of but for some reason, it's sitting boxed up in the backroom and has never been eradicated. Well, that's all about to change.

Since I am already short on time, my plan is to work on completing a new project each month. Just one room a month at the time. I want to paint and redecorate each room as I go through to organize it. I figure with a  few hours here, and a few hours there, I will have the project complete within a few weeks, so a month should be plenty of time to complete each room. (Here's to taking on sponsors for my blog to pay for the redecorating materials!)

New Year's Resolution #3:

Budget! Yes, I said budget! My husband I live comfortably and can provide for ourselves and our daughter with no problem. But I can honestly say I spend freely. I don't go out blowing my money on everything I see, and I try to shop around for the best deals, however things like eating out- (I work on the south end of the county in a highly-tourist-populated area so just eating out for lunch is an easy $12+! That's over $200 a month just for LUNCH!)

There are a few other things I can also do to cut back besides taking my lunches. I have to working on buying things we actually eat and not just things that perk my interest that we end up not eating and then go to waste... It's just the little things that add up over time. I think if I were to keep a budget and track my expenses, I would probably shock myself!

New Year's Resolution #4:

My next New Year's Resolution is to take my blog to the next level. A few days ago I shared my post Planning For a Successful Year In the Blogosphere: My 2014 Goals and listed five goals for my blog and how I plan on achieving each of those goals. They are all pretty realistic and I don't think I will have any problem achieving them. Each one will help me get one step closer to a successful blog and the real chance at being a professional blogger. As in a full time career-blogger. {Career-blogger is that actually a word? Hmm, it is now. }

New Year's Resolution # 5:

My next New Years Resolution is to start taking my lunch to work. Ahh, sounds silly, huh? Well, it coincides with NYR #1 & #3 for losing weight and budgeting, and it is actually a big deal for me. I plan on splurging once a week and going out with the rest of the gang on Friday for lunch, but the rest of the week will be lunch at Cafe Breakroom with the Brown Bag Entree and a big, tall glass of Bottled Water! :)

I never take my lunch unless it's leftover lasagna. I don't care for reheated food {with oneexception: LASAGNA- MMmmm lasagna., and I don't usually have the time to put a lunch together in the morning, and well... being the southern girl that I am, I typically want a hot, fried fresh meal and a big glass of sweet tea.

Well, not anymore. Starting this week, when I go to work, I will be taking my lunch. I have already gotten several different healthy snacks- {oh, by the way, I eat very few fruits and veggies- YUCK!} and by healthy I mean those 100 calories snack packs, bars and treats. I know, not the most healthy- but it's a start. And, it's taking my lunch. :)

So, here's to a new year and hopefully, a new wardrobe soon!

What do you think, achievable? I would love to hear your New Year's Resolutions. Feel free to share links to your own NYR blog posts!
