Best Ever Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich Recipe

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich
Philly cheese steak sandwiches are a common go to for a quick lunch or an easy weeknight meal at my house. Our family-favorite Philly cheese steak recipe was concocted one Saturday afternoon using leftover grilled steak, and since then, we haven't thought about cooking it any other way!

What makes this recipe so yummy- and so easy, is that it uses left over grilled steak.

In addition, this recipe includes grilled peppers and onions, but of course that is totally optional. My husband loves them- I, on the other hand, despise them! The great thing about this recipe is that it is really flexible and you can add your favorites and omit the ones you don't. The general idea is the awesomeness associated with using the leftover grilled steak.

Best Ever Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich Recipe

1lb grilled steak {We use top sirloin because it's lean and juicy}
1 onion sliced then
1 bell pepper sliced thin
1 tablespoon of Dales Marinated
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of olive oil
4 hoagies or your favorite sandwich buns
4-6 Slices of White American cheese

{ Makes 4 very large sandwiches}

Using a sharp knife, slice leftover steak against the grain about 1/8 inch thick. The thinner the better, but you don't want them paper thin. Set sliced steak aside on the counter to reach room temperature.

In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and add sliced onions and peppers. Stir well to coat with oil. Continue to stir and saute over medium heat until they are grilled the way you like. Remove the onions and peppers from the skillet and set aside.

Now, add one more tablespoon of olive oil and heat again on medium heat. Once heated, add one tablespoon of margarine or butter and blend together. Add steak and toss to coat with oil and margarine. Drizzle with Dale's Marinade and toss again. Continue to heat and stir well until hot. Do not over heat or else it will dry out.

Open hoagies and place on baking sheet. Layer steak, cheese, peppers and onions. Bake at 375 until cheese is melted.

Add mayo, mustard, or steak sauce serve with chips or fries! I prefer the Lay's Mesquite BBQ.
