#Review: Healing Notes by Maggie Jaimeson - Book #2 in The Sweetwater Canyon Series

{About Healing Notes by Maggie Jaimeson}
Healing Notes is the second book in the Sweetwater Canyon series and is Rachel's Story. After a vengeful rape from a scorned ex-boyfriend, Rachel Cullen is slowly putting the pieces of her life back together. A few short months ago, prior to the tragic event, Rachel was a fiery, fiddle player from Scottland, and the star of the Sweetwater Canyon band. Now her days are spent rehearsing for the band or going to therapy in hopes of somewhat repairing her emotional scars.

After completing her therapy, Rachel tries to move on with the rest of her life and focuses her attention on the band and their upcoming tour, trying to get past the last few months one day at time. She has officially given up on ever finding true love, with the assumption that no man will ever want her with her past. That is until she meets Noel Kershaw. Noel is a handsome English teacher who enjoys writing poetry and taking care of his little girl. Suffering from his own past, his only desire is to live happily ever after with his young daughter Claire, and protect her from mother.

After the two meet, Rachel can't help but day dream about being part of their family; a loving family that cares for each other and can let her put her past behind her. There's just one problem with her dream and that is Noel. Self-sworn to protect his daughter, Noel has no intentions of dating out of fear that Claire would end up with a broken heart when the separated. Can Noel prove to Rachel there is still a chance for love and happy ever endings like she once believed? More importantly, can Rachel prove to Noel that their relationship would last with no need to worry little Claire getting hurt emotionally?

{My Review of Healing Notes}
Before I go too far into my review, let me first state that I received a copy of Undertones and Healing Notes from author Maggie Jaimeson through a Goodreads giveaway. I recently posted a review of Undertones, after finishing the book and needless to say I had very high expectations for Healing Notes. I mean after all, the author did a fabulous job writing the story so that you were deeply drawn in, the characters and scenery were realistic, and the writing skills were that of a perfectionist, so why expect any less in the next book, right? Immediately after finishing Undertones, I delved right into Healing Notes expecting nothing but the best... and that my friends, is what I received. This book picks up right where Undertones left off, except telling the story from Rachel's perspective. Michelle and David are still mentioned throughout so I was able to keep up with their new life as a married couple as well. Meanwhile, Rachel is now recovering from the emotional scars left from Drake and the horrific rape that occurred in the previous book. She now see's life in a different way and instead of chasing men, she winds up chasing her sanity. When Noel steps into the picture you think the two are about fall in love and live happily ever after. After all, isn't that what happens in these type of books, folks meet, fall in love and live happily ever after... well, not in Healing Notes. Just when you think you have it figured out, you turn the page to find out that Rachel's path to happiness takes a turn.

The constant twists and turns will leave you with your heart on your sleeve, unable to put the book down! From tears to cheers, Healing Notes is another awesome novel by Maggie Jaimeson! If you like a great, sweet romance series (that's clean) then I strongly suggest you check out the Sweetwater Canyon Series.

Healing Notes is available on Amazon in Paperback and Kindle format.
