4 Best Social Media Sites for Bloggers #BendTheRules

This post was sponsored by HP.
Seasoned bloggers know the power of social media sites. Newer bloggers, maybe not so much. With so many to choose from, finding the best social media sties can be a series of trial and error. Luckily, if you are blogger and looking for the best sites to promote your content on, then you have come to the right place!
Below are four of the top social media outlets for bloggers; the ones you should be sharing your blog posts on every time you hit the PUBLISH button! Some of them generate more traffic than others but, each have their own benefits and reasons why you should be following the latest social media trends for each site. Best of all, if you don't have time to post to each one, there are dozens of apps, plug-ins and social media post schedulers that you can use to publish all your social posts in one convenient location...  Don't just focus on one or two social media sites! Instead branch out, even if it means less traffic for some and more SEO for another. It's time to #BendTheRules and do what's best for your blog!

So, what are the 4 Best Social Media Sites for Marketing Your Blog Posts

Facebook

Of course Facebook would make the list…However, it’s not the best social media site for bloggers anymore. (*gasp*) Not long ago Facebook was the hottest social media outlet for bloggers. Now, thanks to their greedy tactics of wanting to make an additional fortune by boosting posts recent changes, Facebook isn’t the hottest tool for bloggers…

Yes, it’s still a great resource for social marketing, but it’s not the must-have any more.  As part of their effort to make businesses pay for promoting their posts, you are lucky if 10% of your Facebook Fans actually see the post. However, Facebook still has potential for being a great social media site for bloggers… Why? Because hello, it’s Facebook! Millions and millions and millions of people still use it. If you produce great content and use relevant hashtags, some of the 10% that do see your post will like, share and comment on that post and. before you know it, it could go viral! VIRAL = AWESOME! I have had quite a few of my gardening and cooking posts go viral and let me tell you, 30,000 page views in less than 24 hours can do great things for your blog (and your ego).
In addition to promoting your content, Facebook has several awesome blogger groups that you can join to help promote your posts, find blogger opps, learn about new blogging strategies, tips and so much more. While we are all a little fed up disappointed with Facebook, it’s not time to throw in the towel just yet.

Google+

Google+ is another one of the best social media sites for marketing content including blog posts but not just for page views. If you aren't on Google+ yet, then as soon as you are done reading this post, stop whatever you are doing, head over and take 10 minutes to set up your Google+ profile. They even have G+ Pages now, similar to a Facebook Fan Pages.
While Google+ is not one of my top refers for page views directly, it is one of my top resources for getting my posts indexed and popping up on search engines rather quickly. I get decent traffic from G+ but, the SEO benefits are much more valuable for me; sending me even more traffic from search engines. And, like Facebook, they have hundreds of awesome Communities (groups) to network with other bloggers.

Twitter

I went so long without utilizing Twitter because I didn’t see the value of it as a social media marketing tool nor, did I understand all the hashtags. I missed out! Twitter is now one of my top sources traffic and networking with other bloggers!

Twitter only allows 140 characters. But, thanks to hashtags (keywords and trends), I can post the title, link to my post and relevant hashtags and quickly share my post with millions of other Twitter users. Many of which may not have found my post otherwise.

Of course, you will need to build your audience on Twitter but there are several awesome ways to get true Twitter Followers. Don’t waste your time trying to buy them from some cheap site because, even if you do get your money's worth, they won’t do you any good because you had to pay for someone to click a button on your profile that could careless that you or your blog exists. Instead, network with other bloggers, produce fun, useful and engaging Tweets using popular social media trends and hashtags and grow your Twitter followers the right way. So, what is the best social media site for marketing your blog?

Pinterest

I would have to say the best-ever social media site for bloggers is PINTEREST! Of course, certain blog genres won’t go over too well with Pinterest, but 99% of them will. If your blog has anything to do with cooking, gardening, fashion, beauty,  parenting, crafts & DIY, reviews, books, tips & ideas, photography, some techie stuff, or anything else that is non-graphic or offensive, then you have the potential to do extremely well with Pinterest!

I receive over 35% of my traffic for So Simply Stephanie from Pinterest alone!  Pinterest does amazing things for my cooking, gardening, craft, fashion, beauty and craft posts. Just like with Facebook, Pins can go viral very quickly and when it goes… it gone- no stopping it! Plus, most Pinterest users have their Pinterest accounts linked to their Facebook and when they pin a post, it shows up in their Facebook feed... That's even more promotion for you!
The key to being successful on Pinterest is to  use great pictures and keywords in your posts. You do not have to be a great photographer… you just have to be able to capture the post in a single photo or photo collage. The image needs to speak for itself. Even if that means taking a picture of a simple hamburger for your “Grandma’s Country Burgers Recipe” and add some cutesy text with the title of the recipe. Then add the title and a short description, along with the photo and pin it to Pinterest.

The more followers you have, the more chance your post will be repinned- thus, the more traffic your blog post will receive. Another great thing about Pinterest is, unlike Facebook, even if I’m not following you, I will still be able to find your post when I search for hamburger recipes in the search bar at the top of the site. I’m telling you, PINTEREST is a MAJOR asset for bloggers when used properly.

Speaking of social media and hashtags, have you seen the #BendTheRules hashtag that’s been popping up lately?

#BendTheRules

HP is partnering with Meghan Trainor
for her "That Bass Tour"!
If you haven't already heard, you have now! HP will be going on tour with Meghan Trainor for her "That Bass Tour"! You will also notice her sporting the HP x360!
The HP x360 features 4 awesome modes on one single device! It goes from a fully-functional touchscreen laptop to a to a huge tablet with it's 360-degree rotating screen- the main reason I love this laptop! It really does #BendTheRules of the standard laptop and tablet!

I can use it as a laptop in the PRODUCTIVITY mode for my everyday web-surfing and blogging needs, then flip the screen 360-degrees for a fully functional tablet for browsing the web, keeping up with my social media accounts, playing my favorite games (oops- yep, I'm a game addict) and well, doing just about anything else I would do on my tablet but, best of all, it's in PC mode so browsing websites in the 'desktop' version instead of the 'mobile' version makes it so much better!

The HP x360 also converts to two different Entertainment Modes, great for watching videos, playing even more games and so much more.

I like putting it in the Entertainment Mode (#1) and using it as a hand-free tablet. Sitting it in my lap, utilizing the touchscreen as a hands-free tablet. Great for taking notes (and playing games-eek) and watching videos! It's also AWESOME for using in the kitchen when I'm throwing together a recipe that I found online. I can position the screen to the angle I need it and scroll with a clean hand!

Entertainment Mode (#2) is also great for videos, presentations and just about anything else you would need a media player or hands free tablet for!

Be sure to follow hashtags #BendTheRules and #ThatbassTour to stay up to date with the latest news about the Meghan Trainor, the tour and all the her happenings. You can check out her the HP Meghan Trainor That Bass Tour  site for more information!

 *I LOVE MY HP x360*
Because I can #BendTheRules with it!

What Do You Think?

What do you think is the best social media site? Will you be following #BendTheRules & "ThatBassTour"?

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by HP. I did receive a free HP x360 in exchange for sharing information about the product and Meghan Trainor's That Bass Tour. All information included in the suggested social media sites for bloggers is my opinion and does not reflect HP or Meghan Trainor.

  1. I use Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest often, but I mostly ignore Google+. I do have it set up, but I felt like I was getting so little from it that the effort wasn't worth it. I hadn't even thought about SEO purposes to be honest, but I'm going to start looking into it more. Thanks!

  15. That computer is awesome. I love the way it bends to however you want to use it. I never thought about G+ being great for indexing, but of course it would be since it's Google. I just like to use it because it's easy! Now I have another reason to focus more on it. :)
