Silicone Baker's Mat Review | One of My Favorite Kitchen Products of 2015!

One of the more recent cooking-fads is the new silicone bakeware, utensils and handy-dandy kitchen gadgets. I've been rather intrigued by all the new silicone baking mats, cookware and bakeware but, I have been a little hesitant to try it simply because I wasn't quite sure how it would compare to traditional cookware.

I love to cook, bake and create a variety of recipes in the kitchen. However, I don’t always have enough time to devote to spending hours in the kitchen creating, making and cleaning up. If I did, trust me, you guys would see a lot more of my creations on this blog! Luckily, I was recently given the opportunity to try the Baker’s Mat in exchange for a review.

The Baker’s Mat is a silicone mat that is used on top of a cookie sheet in exchange for parchment paper, cooking sprays and the need to grease your pans. I’m always looking for new kitchen products that will make my cooking projects easier; including the actual cooking process and cleanup so I thought I would give it a try... And, I am so glad that I did!

 About the Baker's Mat

The Baker's Mat is a silicone mat that is used on top of a cookie sheet replacing the need for parchment paper and non-stick cooking additives. (Which, also add extra fat and calories to your recipe!)

The Baker’s Mat is…

  • FDA approved
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Cleans easily with warm soap and water
  • Microwave Safe
  • Freezer Safe
  • Oven Safe up to 480 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Lays flat and resists molding to a specific shape during storage

The Baker’s Mat is perfect for baking cookies, oven fries, garlic bread, pizza and similar recipes in the oven, rolling out dough, making candy and general food-prep uses.

I have used my silicone Baker’s Mat several times over the last couple months and it has held up well. I have only put it in the dishwasher one time (which it handled well) simply because it cleans up so easily that I can usually hand wash it in less time that it takes to rinse and stack in the dishwasher.

I commonly use my Baker’s Mat for cookies and garlic cheesy toast and recently tried it for oven fries…

As you can see from the image above, my oven fries turned out nice and crispy! I turned them once while cooking so both sides turned out perfect! Plus, the cleanup was a breeze, and most importantly, THE DID NOT STICK! Not even the slightest little bit. I lightly-tossed them in olive oil like I normally do when cooking them on a cooking sheet (which, they would normally stick to if not turned often) and they turned out perfect. You can see the brown marks on the mat where the olive oil turned dark but, as you can see, there is not even a tiny bit of potato left on the mat from sticking. No sticking. No mess. No broken or mashed fries from having to scrape them off the pan.

I also love using my Baker’s Mat for my cookies... for many reasons! One reason is because I never use cooling racks, * I know, gasp!*. When I bake cookies I simply remove the Baker’s Mat from the cookie sheet and place it on the counter and allow the cookies to cool. Even after they have cooled, they still slide right off! No more warped cookies from removing them from the cookie sheet while they are still hot or crunchy bottoms due the continued cooking process after being removed from the oven due to a hot cookie sheet!

Overall, I would have to say that that the Baker’s Mat is one of my new favorite kitchen go-to’s! It creates an awesome non-stick surface without the waste or cost of parchment paper and cooking sprays, doesn’t add calories or unwanted flavors to my food, and cleanup is a breeze! Rather you are an avid baker or, just looking for a kitchen accessory to simplify things in the kitchen, I would strongly recommend the Baker’s Mat! Because we all have to eat, we all cook (well most of us) so the Baker’s Mat also makes a great gift! {Think Mother’s Day, Christmas, Wedding & Bridal Showers, Birthdays… nearly any gift-giving occasion.}

  1. Just today we went out and bought a version of this at BB&B. My Mister had one several years ago that he loved and he lost it somehow. We also picked up a bunch of silicone cooking utensils. I will let everyone know how they work!

  2. I would love one of these mats for baking! Pans get rusty and start sticking after awhile so this silicone mat would work prefect for me. #ProductReviewParty
