Kids Book Review: T-Bones Traveling Circus: Further Adventures of T-Bone The Flying Horse by Janice Virant

T-Bone's Traveling Circus Book Cover
A Kid's Book About Bullying and Being Different

Every parent knows that there will eventually come a time when their child will discover something that is different about them. Whether it’s their hair, their weight, a freckle or a disability, eventually we all have to deal with our child coming home saddened by the hurtful things that another kid has said about our them. As heartbreaking as it is, it is almost inevitable. The good news is that there are several resources, usually in the form of children’s books, that help our children to see it’s okay to be different.

I was recently given the opportunity to review T-BonesTraveling Circus: Further Adventures of T-Bone the Flying Horse and, I must say, this is a very cute book about being different and is a great resource for small children who feel they are different.

In addition to teaching your child that it is okay to be different, the book itself is a fun read. The bright colors, beautiful illustrations and clever story make this a great read for any child. (The fact that it relates to bullying and being different just adds to usefulness of the book). T-BonesTraveling Circus: Further Adventures of T-Bone the Flying Horse is written in a witty, poetic stance that keeps the book fun and entertaining. From flying horses to floppy winged fairies, T-BonesTraveling Circus: Further Adventures of T-Bone the Flying Horse is one of Miss K favorite books. She loves the silly ‘different’ characters and the brightly illustrated scenes in the book. As a parent, I love the idea that it teaches her that it’s okay to be different.

I will be looking for more children’s books by Janice Virant! Miss K. and I have both enjoyed reading this one several times in the last few weeks. I hope to see more of T-Bones life lessons in her Janice’s future books.
